Masjid Nusantara is a place of worship, 2-minute walk from Iwamotocho Station and 7-minute walk from Akihabara Station. "Masjid" is a sacred place where Muslims pray, called a mosque or Camii.
"Nusantara" is an Old Javanese word meaning the islands of Indonesia and Malaysia. This mosque has been operating since 2019 by volunteers who are Indonesian residents in Japan.

  • Masjid Nusantara is a mosque in a room of a building. If you take the elevator to the 5th floor, there will be 2 separate worship rooms for women and men on the right and left. On Fridays when many Muslims visit, the men's prayer room will be full after 30 people enter, so the 4th floor will also be partially opened.

In addition to worship, the mosque plays various roles such as holding study sessions, catching up with each other, and enjoying food with friends. It is also a place of peace and relaxation for Muslims living in the neighborhood and working nearby.

  • The mosque is on the 5th floor of Yamaume Building. It looks like an ordinary building, but there are tenants such as “anison” karaoke cafe, doll specialty store and fortune-telling hall. This is the cross-cultural place in Tokyo, where tourists from all over the world visit. The anime fans who cosplay and Muslims who fills this building on Fridays makes it one of the unique places in Akihabara.
