Hibiya Saroh, a long-established garden restaurant where you can enjoy your meal in open-air terrace seating
Established in 1949, Hibiya Saroh is a long-running restaurant near Hibiya Park's First Flower Garden.
Primarily made up of terrace seating, it can be called Japan's oldest garden restaurant. Surrounded by lush greenery and nature, you can enjoy a superb selection of multinational dishes and beer from around the world.
This open-air restaurant Hibiya Saroh is located a mere 2-minute walk from Subway "Hibiya Sta.", and a 5-minute walk from Subway "Kasumigaseki Sta." and JR "Yurakucho Sta.". Enter Hibiya Park from where there is a police box in front of the park, and after a short walk you will see a large umbrella marking the way.
Their dishes are mainly western-style, but they are developing a range of Asian and multinational dishes as well. Their most popular dish, Tokyo Saroh Rice (850 yen, or 1,000 yen for large portion) is a gapao rice dish made with jasmine rice stir-fried with garlic, Thai red chilies, chicken, and green beans, topped with a perilla leaf and fried egg for a Japanese finish. It contains all four familiar Thai seasonings, Kruang Prung, but you can add as much as you like and change the flavor to suit your tastes. Old-fashioned Showa Omurice (850 yen, or 1,000 yen for a large portion), true to its name, is a good old-fashioned thin-skinned egg and ketchup omurice. Containing fresh "Phoenix Eggs" from Sagamihara in Kanagawa Prefecture, the secret ingredient of jasmine rice adds a touch of sweetness and elegance.
