This specialty chocolate shop has a long and proud tradition, first founded in 1999 in Barcelona, Spain. This shop first landed in Marunouchi, Japan in September 2009. It now has 3 branches in Japan and 6 overseas.

CACAO SAMPAKA's parent company is involved in importing and manufacturing cacao, with consequent expertise in sorting cacao beans, managing high-quality raw materials used in the making of chocolate, and even the importing of rare cacao beans. Furthermore, Albert Adrià, pastry chef at the Michelin 3-star restaurant "El Bulli", participated in the creation of CACAO SAMPAKA's menu. Individually hand-crafted chocolates are delivered directly from Spain to Japan via refrigerated air transport.

At CACAO SAMPAKA, you can taste chocolate that was once, at the time of the Aztec Empire, only thought fit for the king. This chocolate, known as Xoconusco, is made from Cacao Criollo, known colloquially as "Phantom Cacao" because of how difficult it was to cultivate. The moment it enters your mouth, it fruity aromas well spread to your nose, and its full rich cacao flavor will gently and gradually spread.

The Cacao World Collection (6,480 yen) is a set of 16 chocolate bonbons including Xoconusco. In this way, you can enjoy comparing chocolates made from different cacao from around the world, such as Cuba with its scent of nuts and fruity aftertaste, Grenada with its gently-spiced aromas, and Java with its smoky flavors.

  • As well as chocolate bonbons, they also sell block chocolate bars made from high-quality cacao. Their biggest seller is the beautiful Rosa Ambercole (1,620 yen) made from white chocolate and 30% cacao butter kneaded with dried strawberries that seems to fill your mouth with the natural scent of roses when it enters your mouth. The little heart in the middle is raspberry flavored, the Rosa Ambercole, which possesses an exquisite mix of moderate tartness and white chocolate that melts in your mouth. This chocolate bar is said to be the most popular of all at the main store in Barcelona.
