The place where you can feel the classical atmosphere of the Meiji era. Café 1894, a museum café-bar at Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum.
Café 1894 is located in Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo which is a 3-minute walk from Nijubashi Station or Hibiya Station and a 5-minute walk from Tokyo Station. This is a museum café-bar that faithfully recreates the bank's sales room as it was when it was founded in 1894.

Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo reopened in November 2024. In conjunction with the reopening, Café 1894, located on the first floor of the museum, has also reopened for business. Inside the café, you can see the two layers of vaulted ceiling with impressive classical atmosphere. You will feel as if you have transported back in time to the Meiji era.

Café 1894 renewed all the 16 grand menu items at the same time when it reopened. The recommended dish is Roasted Jinhua Pork with Balsamic Stewed Burdock and Ginger Sauce, a dish of plump, grilled Jinhua pork over an exquisite heat, served with sweet and spicy burdock root. Burdocks with balsamic vinegar scent and juicy pork is a great combination. They have Marinated salmon with yogurt and herb sauce and Café 1894 Fish & Chips and other elaborate and particular menu items.

The remarkable dish Palette Plate is a set of hors d'oeuvres, a reincarnation of the once popular “Garden Plate” lunch menu. "Palette Plate" features an artist's palette and on the plate, there are colorful dishes such as Vorrovain-style shrimp gratin, uncured pork thigh ham, baton with truffle and mascarpone cream. In addition to brilliant hors d'oeuvres, this satisfying set comes with potage with seasonal vegetables, warm bread and drink.

During café time between 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., they serve four kinds of sweets. Their signature menu is Homemade Classic Apple Pie with crispy pie crust and fresh-baked warm apple with cold vanilla ice cream and scent of cinnamon. In addition to the regular sweets menu, the café also offers exhibition tie-in desserts during café hours. Each time you visit, you can enjoy a new taste.
At Café 1894, you can enjoy specialty dishes and sweets in the historical and classical atmosphere. You can use the café for various purposes for lunch and café time. Why don't you enjoy having a relaxing chat while soaking up the afterglow of art appreciation.
