IZUMIYA Tokyo Kojimachi main shop is located two-minute walk from Kojimachi Station. This well-established Western-style sweets shop is known as the one that made and sold cookies for the first time in Japan. At the shop, you can pick up various kinds of Western-style sweets whose materials are carefully selected. They have their famous "Special cookies", cakes with familiar, nostalgic taste, seasonal and limited sweets and so on.

In the early Taisho era, Ms. Sonoko IZUMI met an American missionary couple in Wakayama. She learned how to make cookies form them and baked cookies many times to suit Japanese taste. When she finally completed 30 kinds of cookies, they instantly gained popularity. She ended up opening a shop, "IZUMIYA" in 1927 (Showa 2). Later on, after going through the relocation of shops and factory establishment, the shop still opens as present "IZUMIYA Tokyo Kojimachi main shop."

IZUMIYA Tokyo Kojimachi main shop stands along Shinjuku Ave. You can see a blue and white float on the wall as their symbol. They reopened in 2024 and inside the shop, there is a refreshing atmosphere all around with blue and white as the base colors. You will associate the display and the counter with inside a ship and visitors can feel as if they were go on a voyage.

"Special Cookies" with 14 kinds have been passed on as their representative products since the shop was established. They've carefully selected the best basic materials such as flour, sugar, eggs, butter according to the ages. They have kept their policy that they don't rely on preservatives and extra additives. "Ring Tarts" cookies is a ring-shaped with crystallized Japanese butterbur on top. "Walnut" cookies have hard texture. "Savoy Finger" has gentle sweetness. Each cookie has different taste and texture, which is unique to IZUMIYA. It is recommended to enjoy IZUMIYA cookies with your family and friends.

Inside the shop, they have other than cookies such fresh cakes as sponge cakes, lemon cream cakes and cream puffs (called Chou Dia). Seasonally, they make limited sweets. For example, in spring, they make beautiful cookies that remind you of cherry blossoms and in winter, they make an assortment of cookies to make Christmas colorful. Each time you visit the shop, you can see something new and enjoy new taste.
