Tayasu-mon Gate was built in 1636, but has since been torn down and reconstructed. It is a matsugata-type gate consisting of Korai-mon gate facing north and an othogonally intersecting gate from the west.
The name of the gate derives from a shrine with the same name that existed at the time of its construction. Tayasu-mon gate guards the entereance to the Kitanomaru Garden.
