Meiji Yasuda CAFE Marunouchi, designated as an Important Cultural Property, has an elegant, relaxing ambience.
Meiji Yasuda CAFE Marunouchi has opened on the first floor in the Meiji Life Insurance Bldg. directly connected from Nijubashi Station. This is a café where you can get relaxed feeling the classical taste of the Meiji Life Insurance Bldg., which has been designated as the first Important Cultural Property as an architecture of Showa Era.
Meiji Life Insurance Bldg. showed its second floor to the public while partly preserving and restoring the appearance of the building at the time of completion. In November, 2025, they expanded the open and exhibition areas on the first floor as well. In addition to it, Meiji Yasuda CAFE Marunouchi reopened.
There are 60 seats inside the café with elegant ambience. Natural sunlight comes in from the skylight window of the open ceiling and open space spreads. There is a enough space between seats so you can feel relaxed and comfortable. Besides taking a breather while walking around Marunouchi, you can also use the place for your important business talks and meetings.
On the menu, there are dishes like sandwiches and hashed beef rice and deserts like carefully prepared parfaits and cakes. They also have an afternoon tea set, which contains Japanese and Western-style sweets, baked sweets and light snack like sandwiches in tiered food boxes. Meiji Yasuda CAFE Marunouchi is a unique place where you can enjoy relaxing dining and tea time in a historical ambience.
It took 3 years and 7 months to complete Meiji Life Insurance Bldg. In 1945, it was requisitioned by DHQ (General Headquarters) and after San Francisco Peace Treaty had gone into effect, it was returned. After repeated restoration and repair works, it was designated as a National Important Property in 1997. In the newly opened exhibition space, they exhibit the architectural model of Meiji Life Insurance Bldg., the change of its appearance from early Showa Era to this day and the materials with which you can trace back the history. It is a recommended place for those who are fond of architectures and history.
At this Meiji Yasuda CAFE Marunouchi, you can enjoy dining and looking at exhibits feeling the taste of an Important Cultural Property. When you feel like spending a comfortable time in Marunouchi, please visit this cafe.
