Hibiya Park Bon Dance Festival
Not just local residents but men and women on the way home from working in officers in the area, students,and even international tourists join in on this event which involves dancing in sync to a traditional song called the Marunouchi Ondo in concentric rings around the great water fountain of the park.The Marunouchi Ondo was written in 1932 and served as the basis for the Tokyo Ondo, now a staple song for Bon Odori dances across Japan.One of the largest Bon Odori dances in Tokyo,any and all are free to join in jump in a ring,start dancing along,and your fun is sure to double in an instant! Traditional tenugui hand towels are sold during the event which include a raffle ticket and a chance to win fabulous prizes (\300 per towel;sales limited to 1,000 towels per day).
