Anekawa Bookstore, which opened in 1980, began to deal mainly in cat books starting in 2012. The idea came from the owner's daughter, Yuko Anekawa, who has two cats at home. Yuko read almost all of the books in the store, and made a lot of pop-ups. You can feel her love for cats in every sentence they bear.

The store features not only the latest cat books, but also many older books that you won't find in most bookstores. Among the various cat books, a number of them come recommended by Yuko. “My Servant" is a picture book that moves everyone, including adults; it depicts a cat meeting and parting from its owner from the cat’s point of view. The pop-up sentence leaves a strong impression: "You will laugh, cry, and feel heartfelt feelings of thanks after reading this book."

One of the highlights of the Cat Bookstore Jimbocho Nyanko-do is the opportunity to purchase their original products. The tote bag is popular, and has a tasteful cat illustration printed on it. The illustrations on the bags were drawn by author Tamami Kumakura and illustrator Tetsuro Okabe exclusively for the store. You can also pick up other goods unique to their bookstore, such as hand towels with cat illustrations and paw straps. Additionally, you can get an original book cover with the purchase of a book, which is a nice touch.
