Founded in 1939 as a Kappo Ryokan (restaurant & Japanese‐style hotel), Fukudaya was loved by celebrities of the time, including Yasunari Kawabata, Hideki Yukawa and Isamu Noguchi.
In 1945, the building was moved to its current location in Kioicho, and in 1969, the annex "Fukuden" was opened. In 1995, the restaurant underwent a major renovation as a ryotei (Japanese-style restaurant) appropriate for the times, and it welcomes the guests with heartfelt hospitality.
