A famous cherry blossom viewing spot where 150 cherry trees are in bloom in spring. Sotoborikoen is two kilometers long from Yotsuya Station to Iidabashi Station.

Sotoborikoen continues from Yotsuya Station, passing Ichigaya Station to Iidabashi Station. This is a band-shaped histric park that continues two kilometers. This park was maintained along Ushigome-bori Moat, Shinmitsuke-bori-Moat and Ichigaya-bori-Moat. Inside the park, you can enjoy seasonal nature like fresh greenery in early summer, colored leaves in fall as well as cherry blossoms in spring.

Sotoborikoen was constructed using the outer moat ruins of Edo Castle. Inside the park with about 38,794 square meters in area, about 150 cherry trees are planted including Yoshino cherry trees and Yamazakura cherry trees. In spring, you can appreciate cherry blossoms walking slowly on the promenade, one level higher up from the roadway. At the time when cherry blossoms start to fall, petals float on the water of the moat and you can enjoy the view with a quaint atmosphere only the outer moat area can offer.

In addition to cherry blossoms, you can fully enjoy seasonal nature throughout the year here at Soboborikoen. Inside the park, many different kinds of trees have been planted such as tulip trees, camphor trees, zelkova trees, gingko trees and metasequoia trees. You can enjoy the seasonal features of nature all year round like fresh greenery in the early summer and colored leaves in fall.

Sotoborikoen General Playground located between Yotsuya Station and Ichigaya Station is a sports facility with soft-ball baseball stadium and tennis courts. Those who live, work, have schools in Chiyoda City or Shinjuku-ward can use the facility at a low price. Also, there are plalyground equipment and swings next to the tennis courts and around Ichigaya Police Box. It is a perfect place for a family outing.

On the walking path, there are benches equipped so it is recommended to take out something to eat from nearby restaurants and enjoy lunch. Patisserie Edomont located five-minute walk from Iidabashi Station has authentic hotel-made bread and seasonal fruit sandwiches with generously used seasonal fruits.

At Ariorihaberiimasokari, a Japanese café located on the approach in Tokyo Daijingu. They have a wide variety of Dango from their regular flavor to ones using seasonal bean paste and you can buy from just one and take it out. Taking a breather on the bench feeling comfortable wind, you will be in a picnic-like atmosphere while in an urban city.

Sakura Festival in Chiyoda

From the end of March to the beginning of April, Sakura Festival in Chiyoda takes place centering on Chidori-ga-fuchi Green Way. Every year more than one million people come to see cherry blossoms. Special features of the festival are: About 700-meter long Chidori-ga-fuchi Green Way is lit up with LEDs and Chidori-ga-fuchi Boat Pier is specially open during night time. At the pier, you can fully enjoy cherry blossoms at night from the water of the moat.
