Across the inner moat, the earthen bridge Shimizu-mon leads to to Kita no Maru Park. It originally lead to the Shimizumon gate of Edo castle. Nearby, Seisui-ji Temple stands on the bank of the Hirakawa River.
The gate was built in the year 1624, and is considered an important cultural treasure of Japan. On the south side of Shimizu-mon Bridge is Shimizu moat, and the north side is Ushigafuchi moat.
In the early Edo period there were quarters for Samurai here.
